Can the North African campaign and the Siege of Tobruk be considered as battles?

Well of course, the British, Australians, and New Zealanders along with all the other common wealth nations stationed out there attacked the part of the world the German's were very strong and fortified. The African campaign resulted in many loses of life. The North African campaign was considered a campaign, but the siege of Tobruk was obviously considered a battle as they even have air support, both the Germans and British.
