VY Canis Majoris / Proxima Centauri?

Hi ..... i cant seem to find VY canis majoris on my planetarium software. Anyone care to let me know what part of the constellation to look at if its not too much bother?? Also the closest star to Earth can only be viewed from the Southern Hemisphere if at all correct?? Can anyone confirm either of these two things ... cheers!!!
